Krav Maga Training Gear: What You’ll Need to Train
So you’re ready to begin Krav Maga training, but do you have the right gear for class? Here’s our checklist of gear to have on hand before you start training.
Athletic shoes
You may think you can get away with that old pair of tennis shoes buried in your closet, but we urge you to think otherwise. You want a solid pair of athletic shoes that will properly support your feet. Do you have flat feet? If so you’ll want to consider a shoe that will provide the proper support. The right shoes will help you prevent all sorts of injuries that could occur from wearing an unsupportive pair of shoes. A good pair of athletic shoes will keep your knees, ankles, feet, and back safe to ensure an injury-free workout.
Comfortable Training Clothes
We highly recommend wearing comfortable training clothes for Krav Maga classes. Training clothes may include gym shorts, yoga pants, a baggy t-shirt, a sports bra, breathable socks, and more. You want to wear clothing that will keep you cool and comfortable so that you feel your best when you train.
Sweat Towel
This one is completely optional, but there are certainly some of us that want to have a towel on hand to control sweat. If you know having a towel just for sweat will help keep you comfortable, we recommend bringing one along to class. The goal is to keep yourself comfortable to make sure you are able to perform your best.
Striking Gloves
You will want to bring striking gloves to your Krav Maga classes. Make sure to get a pair that really fits your hand and allows your hands to move comfortably. Having trouble selecting a pair? Consider talking to an instructor before making the purchase if you’re not sure what to buy.
Protection Products
Whether it is groin protection, a mouth guard, or knee and elbow pads, you’ll want to come to class with the proper protection products. Not completely sure what you’ll need for class in this department? Ask your instructor to make some recommendations. You want to stay safe when you practice.
Water Bottles and Snacks
Before you start classes you’ll want to make sure that you have a good water bottle and some snacks for before or after classes. When you’re taking a Krav Maga class you will sweat, so you want to make sure you are properly replenishing your body’s water supply by drinking water throughout class. Following classes, and even before class, you’ll want to make sure you are fueling your body through snacking, so consider packing a bag with some snack options. Trust us, your body will thank you!
A Notebook
You may want to keep a notebook and a pen with you during classes. When you are in class, there’s going to be a lot of different lessons being thrown at you, so it’s a good idea to keep a notebook near to write down what you’ve learned and any potential questions you may have for your instructor.
Don’t let anything stand in the way of your training. Coming to each class prepared with the right gear will help you stay focused on your training.
